Chasing Pirates and Waves

Excuse my cyber absence! This week has been filled with many activities and events, such as Grandma having arrived! She spent 6 hours in Amsterdam ( granted, Schipol is the best airport in the world seriously) before arriving in Inverness....this was after a 9 hour flight from LA. Talk about a long journey!
Billy and I have been getting some one on one time in the form of long walks, which included us visiting the Pirate's Graveyard on the edge of town. And to our amazement, indeed it is a pirate's graveyard and not a rumor or myth. Incredible!! And not creepy- not even the empty tomb that I forced Billy to enter...
Grandma is settling in and spending lots of time with Kaya. She too though is struggling with the boredom that we are going through: we are city folk and adjusting the the quiet pace of country life is a real challenge for each of us, including Kaya. She constantly wants to go out and do things like we used to do in Thailand ( cafes, restaurants, etc) but it's not an option here. We can't hook a DVD player up to our TV so...no movies. OK well we can watch them on our computer thank GOD but no games.
Apart from that, we love having the beach right outside our door! Everyday we take a 'family walk' and collect things for our nature table, such as shells. Quickly the table is filling up with things we find on our wanderings...

  2. WOW. a real pirate graveyard.
    now, THAT's an interesting date!!
I can understand the whole city girl//country girl thing and the whole culture shock it is.
Right now, we're living in the most "country-fied" place we've ever lived. Our nearest neighbor is down a pathway through the pine trees that separate our houses. Our fun?? Adventure walks down the driveway.
Our treasures?? Automotive parts and other unidentifiable metal things dug out of the ground that are partially sticking out already.
It MUST be neat to have a beach nearby where you can collect sea shells and other sea things!!
